Distinct Voices
Coordination: Dirk Reynders
The transversal research theme Distinct Voices focuses on making visible—and amplifying—the voices that often remain underrepresented in art, media, and design. We explore subthemes such as inclusivity, indigeneity, identity, disability, and care, with particular attention to individual and collective agency and active citizenship: how makers and audiences express their voices as engaged citizens in the public sphere.
Our aim is not only to critically question existing artistic and societal norms but also to empower makers and communities to co-author their own narratives. Through partnerships, this translates into artistic research and co-creative outputs that experiment with new visual and narrative forms.
By doing so, Distinct Voices expands the artistic playing field, stimulates an engaged form of citizenship, and positions PXL-MAD as a laboratory for plural and polyphonic art practices.
