Niaz Mirmobini

Niaz holds an MA in Visual Arts Specialization: Graphic Design from PXL-MAD School of Arts in Hasselt/ Belgium in 2023 and MA in Visual Communication Design from Islamic Azad University of Science and Research of Tehran/Iran in 2018. She got funded by Mastermind Scholarship for her Master in Reading type and Typography 2021-2022. Her Internship at READSEARCH 2021-2022 and her Master 2021-2023, were in-depth experiences to focus on legibility research that unites the skills of design practice and findings reached by scientific sources.

Her internship project Expressive Typeface for Arabic Script was part of a series of extensive studies within READSEARCH research line of visual prosody led by Prof. Dr. Ann Bessemans was nominated by Prototypes for Humanity 2022 as one of the 100 best and most innovative projects in the world and showcased in DUBAI. Her Master project WHEN LIGATURES TOUCH LITERATURE. The impact of Arabic ligatures on Persian editorial design was one of 10 nominees for WANATOE awards 2023 at Belgium. The same project was also selected by Flanders DC as one of the 25 best 2023 graduation projects.

Currently, Niaz is a research assistant at READSEARCH in ongoing research where she is extending the research lines by means of multi script approaches. She is also assists READSEARCH with visibility through social media. She is also preparing a PhD application and is involved in course Arabic type design by dr. Nadine Chahine, CEO at I Love Typography.
